Get ready to paint, collage, build, and explore! Kids will experiment with a wide range of materials—watercolor, acrylic, ink, paper, fabric, found objects, printmaking tools, and more—to create vibrant artwork and imaginative 2D pieces. We’ll try new techniques each day so campers can discover what they love, build confidence, and bring home projects that are truly their own. All materials are provided. Classes are small, capping at 6 students, and fill up fast.
Who Will Have the Most Fun: This camp is perfect for kids who can follow simple directions, work safely with materials, and get along with friends in a shared space. Basic hand skills, like the ability to tie shoes, are a good indicator of readiness for this class.
About the Instructor: Dyan Akkouche is a certified Kansas art teacher (K–12) who currently teaches in Auburn-Washburn schools and serves as an adjunct professor at Washburn University. She is a former full-time art education professor and has trained many art educators across the Midwest. Dyan is opening her home art studio to provide more hands-on art opportunities for Topeka kids and teens.
